To Mayors, Councillors, Chairpersons, Residents,
The Eastern Regional Service Board (ERSB) is launching a one-year pilot project allowing double-axle trailers to access Waste Recovery Facilities, starting May 1, 2026. Residents can find the applications and other useful information on our website, https://easternregionalserviceboard.com/residents/waste-recovery-facilities/.
This new card builds on the success of the Waste Recovery Facility Access Card system. The Board has issued over 10,500 cards, helping us manage facilities responsibility while serving residents effectively.
Why the pilot project matters
- It gives residents who use double-axle trailers more flexibility for responsible disposal of residential waste.
- It allows ERSB to monitor and ensure safe use before considering permanent changes.
- It maintains fair access for community members while keeping our facilities safe and efficient.
Residents who wish to participate must be approved access card holders and submit trailer and vehicle information at https://easternregionalserviceboard.com/. Processing typically takes 3-4 weeks.
This pilot gives responsible users more options for bulky item disposal, and we look forward to reviewing the results after one year.
Thank you for your continued support as we make Waste Recovery Facilities safe, fair, and more convenient for everyone.
Sincerely,
EASTERN REGIONAL SERVICE BOARD
