Notice RE: Nomination of Candidates (Town of Harbour Grace General Election 2025)
The Town of Harbour Grace General Election will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Nomination of candidates for election to council for the municipality of the Town of Harbour Grace will be received between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Town Council Office, located at the Town Hall, 112 Water Street, Harbour Grace, NL.
Nominations shall be in writing and state the name and civic address of the candidate and shall be signed by the Proposer and Seconder, both of whom shall be present together with the candidate who shall sign also signifying their acceptance. In the event a candidate cannot be present for their nomination, their Proposer and Seconder can complete the required form.
If the nomination is for a candidate running as mayor in a separate election, that position should be noted on the nomination form.
Candidates shall at the time of their nomination deposit with the Returning Officer the non-refundable sum of ten dollars ($10.00).
The qualifications of a candidate are as follows:
- Canadian Citizen who is 18 years of age or older;
- Ordinarily a resident of the municipality or area for at least 30 days prior to the date set for the commencement of the nomination period;
- Not in arrears of taxes or other charges payable to the municipality; and
- Not otherwise disqualified under the Municipal Elections Act.
