It’s Heritage Week in the Town of Harbour Grace!
Recently, the Town updated its Municipal Heritage Site bylaws and designations. You can check out the bylaws and profile of Municipal Heritage Sites on our website at the following link: https://townofharbourgrace.ca/site/uploads/2023/02/09-20-2022-town-of-harbour-grace-municipal-heritage-regulations.pdf
Our Municipal Heritage Site register is always open for new nominations. Contact the Town Hall to learn more about how to nominate your property or a deserving Municipal Heritage Site in the Town of Harbour Grace.
Earlier this year, we produced some new signage for the Municipal Heritage Sites presently on our register. You can view the graphics for these signs below. The physical copies will be on the listed properties this spring!
As you may know, the Town is undergoing renovations at one of these Municipal Heritage Sites, Otterbury Schoolhouse! Present renovations include the construction of an accessible washroom extension; installation of an energy-efficient mini split and insulation; and upgrading the electrical capacity on site. When the present renovations are completed, this Municipal Heritage Site will provide an open-concept multipurpose space for our municipality’s seniors committee, Earhart’s 50+ Club, and be available for other bookings from community groups.
The Town wishes to thank Employment and Social Development Canada; the Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills; and the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development for the funding opportunities which made this project possible.
